Pounamu Kete Necklace

This small green Kete basket necklace is a harmonious fusion of ancestral artistry and contemporary elegance. Handwoven from Harakeke flax, the Kete embodies the resilience and wisdom of Māori tradition. Its handle is crafted from Muka, the silky inner fibre of Harakeke, softened and rolled with care—a detail that speaks to the weaver’s deep respect for Tikanga and the integrity of the material.
Nestled within the Kete is are small pieces of Pounamu (greenstone), sourced from the whenua (land)and shaped by the hands of a skilled carver. The Pounamu carries its own mana, enhanced by the blessings of both the weaver and carver, ensuring this Taonga is spiritually grounded and ready to be worn with purpose.

Measurement:  Length 40 mm by 20 mm width. 

The necklace is suspended from a black plaited cord, adjustable to suit the wearer. This cord offers both strength and subtlety, allowing the Kete to rest close to the heart or hang freely as desired.
Presented in a leather-bound black box, lined with a white inner pad, the packaging reflects the reverence with which this taonga has been created and gifted. It’s not just a necklace.
